The earthquake was recorded at 9:57 a.m. Hawaii time east of Tainan, a city located on Taiwan’s southwest coast, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu. Based on all available data, officials say a tsunami is not expected and there is no threat to Hawaii.
